While infiltrating in Kashmir at LOC in URI North Kashmir

A militant who was killed today morning while infiltrating into Kashmir Valley from Lachipora area of Baramulla district along Line of Control has been identified as 'most wanted' commander Qayoom Najjar. 


Official sources confirmed to GNS that the militant who was killed in Lacchipora is Qayoom Najjar. Qayoom was a resident of Sopoe area of Baramulla district and was one of the longest surviving Kashmiri militant commanders carryig 10 lakh rupees bounty on his head. 


Qayoom until 2015 was affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideeen but he broke away from the outfit and formed his own Lashkar-e-Islam which carried out series of attacks on mobile towers and killed several former militants and Hurriyat activists for their alleged links with government forces. Later that year he had crossed over to Pakistan.
